Needing to make money fast, he got a job as a night watchman which paid double time. No big deal so far. Where Aristotle was really clever was in renting out his room overnight to a friend, thereby being paid rent whilst he was at work and sleeping in his room during the day.
For most of us being paid once for our time is good going – but Aristotle was paid three times for the same period. Unsurprisingly, thinking like this led him to create a shipping empire and become one of the wealthiest men in the world.
